Overhyped Hair Serum Product and Here Are My Thoughts

I’m much more discerning to know about hair product after struggling to treat the split ends of my hair, of course due to the bleach and the heat. So, it make sense if I keep my eye on hair products that deliver a good ingredients and well, affordable price. Luckily, I had sent by Hermo Indonesia this Mise en Scene Perfect Repair Hair Serum years ago but a particular point at which an event takes place to write a review is being delayed. Now, I'm happy to found this gem at home as my return for a holiday. I know I left it for a year but I don't misremember the time when I use this.

This Affordable Sunscreen Is My New Favorite - Etude House Sunprise Mild Watery Light SPF50+++

I have been looking for checimal sunscreen that could replace my favorite one from La Roche Posay Anthelios xl. The sun care market is huge but I agree that there’s an overwhelming amount of choice when it comes to products and I’ll take an advantage of it. I mean, I don’t have to spend $50 Aud when the protection levels available with lower price. I’m trying to save my money! Plus, if I can pay for $10 Aud and I get the same amount of product and protection with the $30 Aud, how can I resist the affordable option? Who’s with me?

CeraVe AM & PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion - Review

CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion
This product is neat considering the cool ingredients like ceramides, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid, but I can't say I'm a fan. It takes a while to absorb into the skin due to the zinc oxide. It appears very white on my medium skin tone so I can imagine it wouldn't be very friendly for people with darker skin tone. I can smell sunscreen for a decent amount of time.

A New Face Mask Favourite - I'm From Ginseng Mask

No surprise that ginseng has been a popular beauty treatment for so long. It’s packed with an ingredient that can effective in increasing the production of collagen to firming, toning and plumping the skin as well as to diminishing wrinkles and fine lines. You don't need to wait until 30 to start using ginseng in your skincare routine. Ginseng has phytonutrients, known to stimulate the skin’s metabolism and release it off the free radicals that build up after regular exposure to sunlight and environmental pollution and toxins. Yep, city girl would need this in life.

February Must Have Lipstick - Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color "Bare"

Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Colour - Bare

I've worn this so many times since I got it & I love it. It feels like a nice balmy feel but with the colour payoff of a lipstick, well, actually not as opaque as their Crushed liquid lip range. it may accentuate dry patches on your lips and I like to put a lip balm before applying and this does the trick for me. So far, Lippie Balm from DE is my OG because it doesn't interfere with the lipstick application on top of it & I can apply lipstick straight after that.

I Use Dr.Jart+ Cicapair Serum and Cream To Reduce The Redness On My Face

I never tried any of Dr.Jart before, but I love how this brand steeped in dermatology & scientific research, tiger grass (centella asiatica or cica) one of the optimum ingredient for complete skin recovery & an age-old healing tradition used by none other than a tiger. This even been used to treat serious conditions: ulcers, psoriasis, and eczema.

The cream is quite thick and rich with pale green colour, it's quite off-putting but immediately recast to natural colour. Don’t be afraid that this going to make you look like a Hulk. The consistency doesn't put me off because of spreadability that I appreciate. I also use this under makeup and it works wonderfully.

This is the piggyback product of their cream. The serum should be used after toning and prior to moisturizing, also infused with the line’s trademark Cicapair complex that helps relieve redness and irritation with only pea-size of the amount. There is a hint of menthol scent which reminds me of tiger balm (obviously) but nothing too strong. The oil texture is easy to spread with fast absorption. The aftermath leaves my skin feeling nice and moisturised. But something dubious when I saw the ingredients here: lavender & grapefruit (sometimes causes an allergic reaction when applied to the skin).

Since my skin purges after using Vitamin C, I thought this is the best time to try both the serum & cream altogether. Two days passed but bumps on my face residing beautifully. Glad that my redness reduced. Well, better than nothing I guess.
I enjoyed these two products eventually. But I can’t see any betterment in regards to diminish my breakout. Don’t get me wrong they both are quite nice and calm down the tingling sensation on my skin but thought I would not purchase.

Indie Lee - Most Gentle Cleanser For All Skin Type

“I love you to the bit”

If I have words to say to this cleanser. That would be it. Just because of the smell I love, the feeling when it glides on my skin, how it brings live when I woke up in the morning and of course, the eye-catching packaging! I’m happy this finally residing in my vanity. Also, the tuty fruity scent is really pampered up my lacklustre, tired face and it makes me frisky to start my day. Well, because it contains Strawberry Seed Oil, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein and Tomato extracts, it leaves my skin hydrated, unlike another cleanser that often makes my skin dry. Double cleanse is compulsory and you can finish up with this product when you sure that there’s no makeup residue on your face.

Nonetheless, it will make you happy as you won’t find any parabens, phthalates, sulfates and their products are paraben free. All the natural ingredients are gentle and kind enough to the skin. So, this can be used for all skin type.

Herbivore Brighten Instant Glow Mask - A Game Changer!

Never thought that I would be this uplift over a product. You could think it sounds bias but I would never write something contrary to what truly happened. Fyi, I have dull and textured skin which are my concern since very a long time and it has been long bumpy roads for me to find the product that actually works and bring my skin back to life. Since this product scattered all over Instagram feeds, I know I have to get my hands on it. Long story short, I got this product and I'm not gonna lie, I was quite nervous to try this for the first time as I have high hope after throwing some $$. Besides, the packaging is quite attractive to pick up.

The packaging came with a little booklet titbit and tips "Use Brighten mask every day for 3-4 days, then reduce to a few times per week to see softer, brighter skin."  Who could it not speak to me? I want soft skin just like baby's butt and brighter skin, yes come in, please. So, I challenge myself to use this mask four days in rows! Well, let me share you how did I feel in four nights.

The first night, I'm happy because this mask is really easy to use even tho it's gooey and slimy. It sits on my face nice and firm. After 2 minutes I started to feel the tingling sensation like I never before with other products but I'm okay since the product is doing its job. After 20 minutes (according to the direction) I rinse it off with lukewarm water and let it air dry. My skin felt smooth and brighter but I didn't surprise as my other exfoliator also do the same thing. In the next morning, I did my routine just like I normally do and when I put makeup on, the foundation glides and clings into my skin like never before! I also noticed white bumps on my chin have cleared.

The second night, I was super excited but at the same time, I don't want to be tripped as I over-hyped the result that I saw in the morning. This time, I also felt the tingling sensation just like the first time and I already worried to complete this mission as I don't want to irritate and damage my skin. Anyway, after it dries, I rinse it off and my skin felt smooth just like the night before. Nothing major, but in the next morning my skin looked brighter, smooth and live. I'm not exaggerating it!  It really brightens up my chin and mouth area where my skin tone is darker than other areas. Also, my blackheads seem to reduce. Oh, what a joy!

The third night, as I saw a significant difference in two days, I didn't feel like to carry on as I already happy with the result but, my curiosity reached its peak and I know that I have to finish what I have started. The tingling sensation preserves for 5 minutes and it makes me relief as I feel less than the night before. The next morning, my skin just felt so smooth and brighter even more.

The fourth night, I was confident to complete the mission as I didn't feel any tingling sensation anymore and it dries up quicker. Also, I need to mention that my blackheads are 70% gone. Applause.

Review: Laneige Cream Skin Refiner

I'm thrilled to finally be able to try this and share with you my experience with this product.  This has been sitting in my fridge for quite some time in order to accomplish no new product before finishing up what I have left. Anyways, I manage to use up my previous toner because of my curiosity reached its peak! When I know I only have an inch left in the bottle, I headlong to the fridge and I open the bottle recklessly with excitement and slosh it over my face. So, I'm ready to share what my thought on this. Sadly, I can't share with you the ingredient lists as it's in the Korean language and I can't find it in English. Fyi, this product is dermatologist tested and hypoallergenic tested.

So, on the box, it said that it is a special water recipe by selecting natural ingredients full of great skin benefits. So, this is supposed to be a toner but it has the same effect as a cream. in another way, it is cream in a water form. Pretty genius and I really appreciate this idea which for me very revolutionary, but does it really work? So, let's break down to know more.

$47.99 AUD

What is it?:
Laneige Cream Skin Refiner is meant to be a cream that melts into a skin refiner - A hydrating skin refiner that provide ample moisture to the skin at the very first step of skincare routine (after the cleansing of course).

Skin type:
Dry & dehydrated skin.

Major Ingredients:
White Leaf Tea Water. It is rich in amino acids that soothe the skin and reinforces the skin moisture barrier, making the skin truly healthy.

Watery but heavier than water. I would say this has skim-milk consistency. The actual colour of this is just like milk (maybe because of the white leaf tea) which makes me want to drink it straight from the bottle, lol. Despite the texture, this has a slight oil base because of the greasiness I felt on my palm upon application.

Very Subtle soy milk. I might be wrong or it could be psychological bias?

A glass bottle that feels heavy. Also, I like that the lid is pretty secure to keep it from spilling out because of the small hole it has. So, you can control the amount of product you want to dispense.

How to use:
After cleanser, pour it to the palm (not cotton pad)and gently pat it onto your face. This surely buildable and it works wonder for 7 skin method (if you do). After that, you can follow up with the rest of your routine.

Final verdict:
This texture is really unique but the application I kind of feel like this is truly meant to be used for dry skin type. I can feel the residue coated my palms & fingers and it feels greasy. For my normal-oily skin, I would say this doesn't work perfectly on my skin. Moreover, it is summer here in Australia, so my skin tends to be oilier. Rather, I would use this during winter time when my skin is more drier than usual.

I quite like to the fact that it really hydrates my skin and leaves my skin plump and supple. After applying, I give it a good 1 minutes because of the greasiness so I feel like I have to wait until it fully absorbs. But, here is what I found when I apply another product on top of it. Once I put a serum on my face, it slightly builds up a foam. Yes, you read it right, it's foaming but not over foaming. Strange right? Even tho I already gave it some time so it can sink well into my skin but the foam is building up when I put the serum. Maybe it just me because I found other reviews on youtube that they didn't mention this type of reaction. This happened not only once, but a couple times. First I thought that it is a sign that the product does not absorb that well, but not a bummer.

What I like about the product:
Lightweight consistency
It has control how much product you want to dispense
Very hydrating, I don't need 7 skin method with this

What I don't like about the product:
A little bit greasy & sticky
Takes time to fully absorb
Possibility of foaming

Would I recommend?
Yes, if you have dry or severe dehydrated skin or you might need to incorporate this during winter time. But, you have to follow up with your moisturizer because I feel like it won't be enough for the rest of the day.

Would I repurchase?
No, because I want to discover more of skincare products.

What You Need To Know About Make Up Expiry Dates

I know how hard it is to toss away your favourite palette or lipstick, especially if you love the packaging! I feel you. For me, and I believe for most of you will not be clued up with make-up expiry dates, but is it safe for you to preserve the same foundation for years? And what's wrong with keeping a lipstick forever? According to Jessica Mae, a Makeup artist and Kelli J. Bartlett, a director of Makeup Artistry advice on when to toss old cosmetics and how it can deliver a bad impact if keep using their elusive lifespan.

Never ignore the expiration of your cosmetic products, especially the liquid formula based such as foundation, eyeliner and mascara. You know that our skin and eyes are most prone to infection, so whatever products you applied to that areas must be heeded with care. Once you open the products, it allows the bacteria to enter the container. Hence, more often you use it, more bacteria flourish and it shortening the lifespan. So, let's gamut the type of products you should consider before you toss it away.

Foundation and concealer
Take a look at the formula base. If your foundation made with water-based then it will last up to 12 months in daily use. Even tho if you use it occasionally, make sure that you will keep shake it regularly to prevent separation of the products. If it's oil-based formula than most likely it will last up to 18 months, because oil is a natural preservative.

When to toss?
When you notice that your foundation is separate and the pigments tend to sit in the bottom of the bottles, toss it! Also, if you notice any smell develope then you should move it to the bin immediately. Keep in mind that you can prevent these things by stash it somewhere cooler, clean your makeup tools religiously and keep your hands away from the dispenser.

Eyeliner and Mascara
Same with these two, liquid base tends to get expire shorter especially when it comes to the eye areas because those areas are more delicate than your face. By using overdue mascara or eyeliner will increase the chance of irritation, puffiness and redness on your eyes. You don't want ugly things to happen right?

When to Toss?
If you notice the formula getting clumpy or starting to smell odd, which means it’s gone bad. Make sure to switch out after three months and please don't share your eyeliner or mascara with others! Because our lashes have natural bacteria and you don't want to share your bacteria with other people and vice versa. If your mascara dries sooner before you find any sign of expiration and there is still a lot left in the tube, you can add baby oil in it. If you don't use the mascara or eyeliner in daily this might last for 6 months but don't get over that. Also, don’t pump the wand, as it pushes air into the tube. Instead, you can draw it out or twist it to reach more product inside the tube before application to prevent the product to get dry.

Lipstick and gloss
In general lip product's shelf life is one year. However, if you use to keep it inside your car, looks like you will find it goopy or even dry easily. It is because you suppose to store it in somewhere cooler, not to the place where the sun stream in every side of your car.

When to Toss?
Whether it gets dry, goopy or the texture getting chalky (or you will find the colour is less saturated) then you should throw it straight away to the bin and say goodbye.

The recommended time to keep it is 18 months whether it's your eyeshadow, blush or setting powder. Powder products don’t contain water, so the chance of bacteria to grow is less. Cosmetic chemist Ni’Kita Wilson advises to look out for the ones with botanical extracts such as aloe, green tea extract and chamomile. Wilson explains that oils will cling to the bristles of your brush and transfer to your product when applying powder over liquid or cream face products, which causes a dull grey film on the product.

When to Toss?
Whenever you find any hard rim in your powder. This due to the transfer of natural oil from your skin to the powder through your makeup brushes.

Makeup Brushes
It makes me sad to tell you this, but unfortunately, you have to admit that your makeup brushes have a life span too just like others. Brushes can transfer bacteria from your makeup to your face, vice versa. In general, brushes can be used up to 3 years, but you have to keep your eye alert when it starts to give the signs to toss.

When to Toss?
When you start to notice that your brushes shed or the brushes hair changed colour, this is the time to toss it. Cleaning your brushes regularly can keep its life span longer.

Best Skincare Drugstore Dermatologist Swear By

Most of us thought that only expensive product would work and deliver a good healthy looking skin. Well, here I share how a dermatologist runs a gamut from face wash to sunscreen and debunk our thought that drugstore can be life-changing.

This cleanser contains no harsh ingredients. As it said, Simple put simple ingredients to keep the skin barrier intact. I also love the cleansing oil from Simple which only $3 at Kmart and Coles.

Avené Gentle Toning Lotion
Toners are sometimes quite drying as an astringent to the skin. This product is gentle enough to keep your skin in balance with no irritating.

CeraVe Moisturizer Cream
This is one of Dr Dray favourite. As she mentioned in her video, this cream would help to repair damaged skin.

CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion AM SPF 30

"I recommend CeraVe often for inexpensive, high-quality products. This is a fragrance-free formula that uses a blend of chemical and physical sunscreens, and its lightweight texture is combined with an impressive mix of ingredients like ceramides and hyaluronic acid, alongside with a big dose of the cell-communicating ingredient niacinamide."—Jordana Mattioli, L.E.

Basic Skincare You Must Know

Do you ever question that good skin is hereditary and the one who has skin problem just needs to live with it? Sounds unfair right?

According to a dermatologist, Doris Day, genetic account for only 10% of skin's ageing process which mostly all the skin problem is. So skincare regime does take a big role for good healthy looking skin. You don't need an extravagant treatment to achieve healthy skin. Here is some basic yet fundamental habit to take up in your routine.

1. Cleanse Your Face
Cleansing is prior in skincare routine to remove your daily grime. A gentle cleanser never goes wrong. Look for a cleanser that provides pH balanced with Sulphate-free and soap free. Try to stay away from foaming cleansers as it contains detergent and emulsifies oils from the skin.

2. Moisturizer
Moisturizer not made for dry skin only. No matter how greasy your skin, you need moisturizer. The best moisturizer for your skin is what suits your skin type. If you have dry skin, you need thicker moisturizer. The creamy texture is recommended for dry skin type. Look for something that labelled as "nourishing" or "hydrating". If you have oily skin, the gel-type texture might suit for you. More titbit about moisturizer read HERE.

3. Apply Sunscreen daily
Not only to prevent skin cancer, wearing SPF can slow down the aging process. How if you spend most of the time at home? Well, when you are indoors, lights emit ultraviolet energy (UV) through the windows which can cause sun damage. So wearing sunscreen is necessary even if you are at home. Read HERE to know more about sunscreen.

4. Exfoliate (but not over exfoliate)
Exfoliator rids any dry, rough and dull skin by removing dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. This speeds up the skin turnover, allowing smoother, healthier skin cells and help to ease discolouration. I would recommend to look for a chemical exfoliant rather than physical exfoliant. Chemical exfoliant goes deeper to the skin and releases the dirt that causes blackheads. For a full guide on how to exfoliant properly, click HERE.

5. Stay Away From Popping Pimples
I know it can be satisfying to popping out zits, but the outcome isn't satisfying either. This such an explicit policy in a skincare routine. Not only can cause irritation and dark spot but also can spread bacteria which lead to more breakouts.

Mizon Collagen Power Firming Eye Cream Review

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Polysilicone-11, Isododecane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Collagen, Sodium Hyaluronate, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tropolone, Theobroma Cacao Extract, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil,  Mangifera Indica Seed Butter, Adenosine, Beta- Glucan, Rubus Idaeus Fruit Extract, Copper Tripeptide-1, Iris Florentina Foot Extract, Honey Extract, Sodium PCA, Betaine, Sorbitol, Glycine, Alanine, Proline, Serine, Threonine, Arginine, Lysine, Glutamic Acid, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Olea Europaea Fruit Oil, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Limnanthes Alba Seed Oil, Disodium.

"Eye cream doesn't speak to me in any way," I said to myself a long time ago before came into skincare game and  Dr Davin Lim convinced me as he said it is no difference between eye cream and face cream. Besides, the price for eye cream is a lot more than the regular face cream or moisturizer. So, you pay extra for something which is a lot smaller than a face cream. There is no evidence that hype up eye cream ingredients can reverse the aging process or improve the skin elasticity. Why tho people still living for it? Or they just being biased when they do have the holy grail of eye cream products. What makes it special tho? Eyes area are much thinner and more sensitive because of the anatomy of the skin. The skin under an eye area is about the quarter as thick compared to the cheek area. That is why skincare brand formulated eye cream even tho if you have a look at the ingredients are quite similar to the face cream. A couple of differences are they add Dimethicone to treat puffiness and the three ingredients that work really well together to reduce dark circle which are  Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide and Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone. However, Dr David Lim does believe in an eye cream as delicate skin needs some care as well.  That is why I try to maintain my scepticism over an eye cream fad but I don't want to splurge as I still in a slow step to really get into eye treatment. After research some affordable eye cream with good ingredient lists, Mizon Collagen Firming Eye Cream assured me to the point when I finally incorporating to my skincare regime. I also quite happy to pay $9.90 for 10mL.

This eye cream has a serum type texture which spreadable, so I only need a pea size amount for my both eye area. It does give me a cooling effect especially after waking up in the morning. Even tho I haven't seen any improvement as they claimed to "firm" the skin. I have an early wrinkle under my eye but really not expect this product to do the magic. As its contain 42% collagen water solution for moisturizing and honey, I kept my trust on this by using it morning and night. I'm not going to be biased as this is the first eye cream I have come across and I would say this pretty decent product to start. I have nothing much to say but I will keep using this until it reaches the last squeeze. Will I recommend this? Yes for those who have not tried eye cream in the past, in shaa Allaah you will enjoy this.
