3CE Lip Tint (Review)

Say YAY to lip tint! All lip tint lovers should know this brand. Especially if you are K-Beauty babe. This is the second brand I had tried with their lip tint collection after Dear Darling Liptint by Etude House. For me, lip tint is worth every penny as it would not rip you off since you can get the cheapest price for 5$ even less at Amazon or eBay.

Anyway, lip tint should be comfortable on your lips because of the watery texture. Nowadays, lip tint develops its own texture from watery to velvety and it gives a different finish to the lips. If you like a matte looking kind of finish, then this 3CE is worth to try. These are the 3CE lip tints that I have been using for over a year and I would like to share my experience with them. Thought I would give you a better idea before you pick them up.

The first 3CE I got in hands is this one. This has a velvety formula that melts once I apply on my lips. This adheres seamlessly as it claims. The doe foot applicator is perfect to reach the tip area of my lips. This is an MLBB tint that suits my skin colour really well. Unfortunately, this does not last for a long time and it does transfer but I still love this one even tho I need to re-apply a couple times a day. Make sure to put your lip balm a minute before, because this does not fix your dry lips.

Another one that I got is 3CE Soft Lip Lacquer. This one is more liquidy than the velvet version but the same finish as the velvet one. Does it long last? Sadly, no. I still keep using this pretty much every other day because the colour is so unique and I need to use lip balm first for better application.

This overall is my personal favourite. The texture of this is different compared to the other two. This is more liquidy with a glossy finish and makes my lips hydrated. One thing that I love the most is this does what it claims as "tattoo lip tint". Don't get mislead by the word "tattoo" as its stain to the lips forever, lol. It means that this is long wearing with no doubt. It does the transfer at first, but soon after it gets dry, you good to go without worry to re-apply after coffee.

Here are the swatches of these three on my hand. The first picture I took straight after swatches and the second one was after I rub my hand with a tissue.

To sum up, I would say the Tattoo Lip Tint is performed better compared to the other two. It is longlasting yet hydrating. This one came with 4 different shades but unfortunately, all shades are quite bold. So if you lean to something natural, this might be a pass for you. If you still want to try them out, you can go to their website at Stylenanda to see all their collection.

Wishtrend Vit C 21.5 VS Dear, Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum

As we know that Vitamin C is one of the good ingredients to achieve healthy good looking skin. Even tho we can find vitamin C in many different types of fruits and veggies, by applying topically can provide one of the most effective ways to boost collagen and slow its degradation. Especially as we grow older, our skin needs nutrients to increase collagen production. This does not mean that Vitamin C is only for the older women who already have a wrinkle. You can start at a young age as possible because Vitamin C can supports healthy collagen to work hand-in-hand with elastin so they can provide the improvement of the skin elasticity to prevent wrinkle.

The first vitamin C that I had tried is by Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 21.5 Advanced Serum. It is a very lightweight serum with a hint of citrus scent but very subtle. It is formulated with only 10 ingredients with no paraben, fragrance and other harmful ingredients. This contains Hippophae Rhamnoides Water, Ascorbic Acid, Panthenol and Allantoin. All these properties together fight the hyperpigmentation, discolouration and acne scarring. Unfortunately, my skin mislikes this. I woke up with bumps all around my cheeks and eyebrow area. On the other night, I put less amount than before but still got some bumps in the morning which chafed me. So, I was halted since that but I did not throw the product away thought I can use it elsewhere such as the back of my neck and my knee. A few days after I stored the bottle on my skincare shelf, it has oxidized from clear to pale yellow. Well, I could say that was probably my fault because I store it close to the window which is exposed to the sun. Yes, pure vitamin C is easily destabilized by light and oxygen and the best way to store them is inside the fridge.

After a couple of months, I wanted to give another chance with another brand and Klairs has caught my attention with their vitamin C serum. Dear, Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum. Yes, I finally wrote it perfectly after made some mistake. This came with a clear plastic bottle, whereas the Wishtrend one came with a glass bottle which more confident to be held. Same with the Wishtrend, Klairs also with the dropper to dispense the liquid.

It has been 4 months using this product and I have a completely different experience with this one. This has 5% concentration which gentle enough if you new to Vit C and have a longer shelf life. Moreover, this product compact with numerous botanical extract for extra soothing and nourishing. So far I did not have any reaction on my skin and I incorporate this both night and day without an issue.

After 4 months enough of using this serum deliberately, I don't see any improvement in regards to brighten or smooth out skin texture but I am not surprised by how gentle the consistency it has. Again, if I have to choose one of them I probably would recommend the Klairs one, but for somehow I adore by how great the 21.5 by Wishtrend as its concentration and how simple the ingredients are. I wish my skin loves this or should I grab more to test it for the second time?

Anyway, my experience with these two Vitamin C serums do not upset me despite the result is zero. I definitely will explore more Vitamin C out there. Paula's Choice C15 Super Booster and Drunk Elephant C firms are on my wishlist. Please share your experience if you have tried them.

Drunk Elephant Lippie Balm Review

Drunk Elephant is a skincare brand that has caught my attention for a long time. They only use great ingredients and avoid unnecessary ingredients such as alcohol, fragrance, etc. Even it is not in everyone's budget because they are pricey, but I'm one of those who willing to spend money to achieve good looking skin. I had a few Drunk Elephant products so figured I would buy their Lippie Balm.

I have dry lips and it becomes severe during winter time. I had tried vaseline in the past and I didn't like it as it tasted offensive because sometimes I bite my own lips, lol. Same with any other chapped stick at the drugstore.
The only one that works on me is Lucas Papaw Ointment. Very versatile product and they came with a little tube and has a quite tapered application to dispense the liquid. So, I thought I will stick with that one forever.

However, even tho DE just released the Lippie Balm quite a while (I guess, I'm not sure), I really love the packaging and many skincare influencer raves this product. That is why I decided to give this a shot.

At first, I didn't put too much expectation on this one, because in my mind, Lip balm is always the same. After a while using this Lippie balm, I only reapply twice or thrice a day, and before sleep of course. Whereas, the Lucas Papaw Ointment one, I have to reapply 6 times roughly, especially after a meal. This doesn't mean that I'm comparing the two products, but I should say that the DE one is worked better for keeping my lips chapped-free.

I might purchase another of this soon after I finish this up and expect that DE will have something to pair with, such as the lip scrub. That would be the best match to use before start the day.

Please let me know your experience about this product in the comment below if you had tried this. Will you keep purchasing this one? or maybe you have been wanting to pick this up if you haven't used this.

5 Things To Avoid In Skincare Routine

Everyone loves when their skin looking good. Unfortunately, skin behaves differently every day. We can't always find the culprit behind it but prevention is always possible. Here, I share 5 things to avoid in your skincare routine that I think imperative to stay away from.

1. Alcohol
I'm not saying alcohol is bad in skincare in general. In fact, there is also the benefit from the different type of alcohol in skin care products. A certain type of alcohol can deliver benefit to the skin such as fatty acid (Cetyl Alcohols, Cetearyl) this can improve the skin texture. So what are the bad types of alcohol that we should avoid? Well, there is a simpler form of alcohol such as SD alcohol, isopropyl alcohol which listed as Alcohol Denat, is something that we should avoid. Even tho, this found to help the active ingredients to penetrate even better to the skin as well as to control the oil, in contrary, this can strip the natural oil which can lead to overproduction sebum and causing dryness.

2. Physical Exfoliant
Physical exfoliant can damage the skin barrier. Even tho it gives instant result by feeling clean and clear right after, it actually drives the skin to be sensitive and inflamed several days after using it. Try to incorporate the chemical exfoliant is more powerful to dissolve away the skin cells bones and allows the skin turnover to be revealed. If you want to know more about physical and chemical exfoliant, you can read here for more detail.

3. Foaming Cleanser
Foaming cleanser creates a thick lather to take all the impurities on the skin. However, this is not something to keep in your routine because it makes the skin barrier less effective by denaturing the skin proteins. Especially if you have dry, sensitive skin, this will upset your skin even more. Instead of foaming cleanser, gel base or cream base is more gentle to the skin without stripping out the skin moisture.

4. Spray on sunscreen
First of all, by spritzing you can lose the precision of use of the tools. So it won't cover up the surface of your skin. Secondly, sunscreen in an aerosol form has a risk for your health. If you look at the bottle, you can spot the caution and it is there for reason. The ingredients that sunscreen have such as oxybenzone, octinoxate, avobenzone, octisalate, homosalate and other ingredients list will be inhaled easily. You don't want to be inhaling any of those right? So it is better to use regular sunscreen rather than the spray one.

5. Essentials Oils
Essentials oils or aromatherapy are those extracted from plants and then distilled at highly concentrated levels. Essentials oils are known to relieve the anxiety. Unfortunately, this can potentially irritate the skin if you apply directly to the skin.

It is safe to dilute the essential oils by mixing it with a regular moisturizer, but not all of the essential oils are friendly to be mixed together with moisturizer. Lavender oil is one that I know that has a soothing effect on the skin. One specific product that I would recommend to you which has lavender oil as soothing properties is Neogen Joan Day Joan Night moisturizer cream. This has two different creams for day and night in one jar, which is very unique and a lot of skincare addicts rave about this product. This also on my wish lists to pick up. Let me know if you already tried this one.

So these are 5 things that you should avoid in your skincare routine. However, our skin has a different reaction to certain products. Something that does not work for me may work for you. So these are based on my experience only. Please share if you have things that you keep your hands away from it, I want to know in the comment down below.

Sheet masks have been reached the hype all over social media. That is why this is a very interesting topic to talk about. Sheet mask soaked with the serum that gives a cooling effect while using it. This single-use treatment promising different skin concern from soothing, hydrating, firming etc.  Some people said that they received immediate improvement after using it, while others don't. Even for those who have not tried yet questioning the efficacy. So, here I share some tips to use it properly before judging the sheet mask itself.

Before that, it is very important to know what our skin really needs. Keep an eye on the ingredients list before you buy. Avoid things that can trigger irritation such as alcohol, bleach, or strong fragrance. Also, look for the one that made with 100% cotton so your skin can breathe.

#1 Double cleanse
Cleansing is very crucial as the first step in your skincare routine. If you wearing makeup during the day, you really need to double cleanse either with cleansing balm or cleansing oil, following up with facial cleanser.

#2 Exfoliate
I prefer to exfoliate before masking, but avoid physical exfoliate with scrub or tools because it can irritate the skin and you will be able to feel it while applying sheet mask. So, the chemical exfoliant is always the best choice.

#3 Apply Toner
Toner helps to rebalance skin after washing or exfoliate and prep your skin before the next step.

#4 Serum or ampule
While your face is slightly damp after toner, apply serum right after so the serum can penetrate into your skin really well.

#5 Sheet Mask
Unfold, pop it out, press it in. Make sure that the sheet is attached to your skin. I like to apply it while laying down for better application. Note that you have to read the instruction in terms of how long you have to put them in your face. In general, 15-20 minutes is enough, some may takes less than that, but don't go over 20 minutes otherwise, you will lose the benefit of it. Longer doesn't mean better.

#6 Massage
Massage your face using your finger or jade roller straight after you remove the sheet mask. Massage your face will increase the blood flow. In this step, you can use your fingers or tools such as Jade Roller or Guasha with gentle motion.

#7 Moisturizer
Last but not least, moisturizer is the key to lock all the serum you already put in. Make sure to wait until the serum completely absorb before you put the moisturizer.

My Skin Journey (Oily to Normal-Oily)

I was brought up in Indonesia, which has an almost entirely tropical climate, with the coastal plains averaging 30°C which is why my skin was super oily. Since a young age, I didn't care much about skin and thought that Allaah has created my skin with excess sebum. SubhanAllaah, I was wrong!

Long story short, I didn't know that my skin produced more sebum to combat the lack of natural oil. I didn't know what my skin craved for. I had trouble finding makeup that suits my skin, I occasionally had pimples, my skin looked thick and rough etc. If I had to wear makeup, the foundation that I wore mixed with the sebum (Ew...). When I had a holiday in Europe during winter time, my skin reacted differently to climate change. I could barely see the greasiness and at times, I felt my skin got flaky which was opposite to how it was in Indonesia. So, I decided to find out what's going on with my skin and I went through some videos on youtube until I met Liah Yoo. Yes, this awesome girl ma shaa Allah has opened my mind and made me realize that I had been treating my skin very aggressively by putting too many products that my skin couldn't tolerate. Everyone's skin has a limit and by putting too many products can cause a different reaction and can break the skin barrier. She hit my mind with her quote, "feed what your skin craves not what you want."

By that time I realized that my skin loves the general Korean skincare routine (double cleanse, toner/essence, serum/ampule, moisturizer and sunscreen). Even tho I don't need all the steps on a daily basis, but I love to keep a relationship with my skin every single day. Alhamdulillah after over a year since I started my skincare regime, I don't have issues with excess oil anymore. I love to exfoliate my skin once a weak with BHA and AHA but in moderation. And now, by knowing what my skin craves, I'm having a good connection with my own skin and my skin has changed from being super oily to normal (occasionally oily but not much even summer time!). I will share some tips for all of you who have similar problems with their skin.

1. Find the right cleanser
A sulfate-free product with gentle lather will keep your skin in track and prevent from any blemishes in shaa Allaah. Try to find something with Salicylic Acid as it reduces the excess sebum and is great for acne.

2. Toner With Exfoliating and hydrating Function
This in shaa Allaah will get rid of the dead skin cells and increase the level of cell turnover. So, the dead skin cells are not trapped within the pores.

3. Serum
Some people with oily skin type tend to avoid this step but, if you find the right serum i.e. something light yet hydrating e.g. green tea or HA (Hyaluronic Acid), it can prove very helpful for controlling excess sebum and by adding retinol or glycolic acid to it for the night time could help to unclog pores.

4. Moisturizer
Non-comedogenic moisturizer would not clog your pores. Find the one with light consistency but hydrating at the same time for long-term hydration e.g. HA.

5. Face oil
I know you might think, really? My skin is producing oil already, how could I pack it with more oil? On the contrary, oil can be very helpful to balance out the complexion. Rosehip oil, hemp seed oil, and grapeseed oil are some of the best ones for oily skin.

I hope you enjoyed my skin transformation experience and the tips above. Remember to always start your skincare routine with products that have a lighter consistency.

In my future posts, I will discuss different skin types and the products that are suitable for it In sha Allah.

If you want to know about the products I used when I first started my skincare regime just ask in the comment section.
